Uliana Zhivitskaya (flute)
Flutist, teacher, laureate of international competitions. 4th year student of the Moscow State Conservatory Tchaikovsky, a fellow of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation and the OPRD Foundation. Uliana was born in Yekaterinburg, in 2009 she entered the M.S. Gnesins in the class of Associate Professor O. Yu. Ivusheykova. At the age of 11, she received the title of "Bronze Nutcracker" at the XIII International Nutcracker Television Competition. Ulyana received awards from the President, the Government and the Mayor of Moscow. She participated in foreign concerts and competitions in Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, also in Argentina, China, Vietnam. In Spain, Ulyana took part in the IV International Festival "Peregrinos Musicales". In 2014, she was awarded the honorary title "The Best Student of the Gnessin Moscow Secondary Special Music School". Uliana was twice awarded the Gold Medal at the Russian Youth Delphic Games. At the age of 16, she became the absolute winner of the International Radio Contest for Young Musicians Concertino Prague. “The level of technique and expressiveness of performance demonstrated by Uliana Zhivitskaya were so convincing that she not only received the first prize in the Flute nomination, but was also awarded the prize for the best interpretation of the compulsory composition, and thus became the absolute winner of the competition this year” , - said the chief producer of the Czech Radio Lukas Hurnik. Ulyana received the highest award - the Helena Karaskova Prize, she also recorded the first solo CD with four flute sonatas of the 20th century and got the opportunity to participate in EMCY projects. In 2019, Ulyana entered the Moscow State Conservatory. Tchaikovsky at the faculty of historical and contemporary performance in the class of associate professor of the Moscow Conservatory Olga Ivusheikova. Ulyana performed in the Big and Small halls of Zaryadye, in the BZK im. Tchaikovsky, in the Hall of Sour Cream in the Municipal House in Prague, in the Building of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, in the palaces of Valtice and Cesky Krumlov, in the Bishops' Chambers of the Suzdal Kremlin. As a laureate of The Nutcracker and a participant in the Blue Bird television competition for young talents, she performed concert programs at children's music schools as part of the Junior Music Tour, as well as in the halls of Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Klin, Sadki. Ulyana participates in various projects as part of such ensembles as the orchestra and consort "Rosarium", the early music ensemble "Musica Tempora", the orchestra "Pratum Integrum". In 2022, she performed at the Diaghilev Festival in Perm, at the Art of Translation festival at the Pushkin Museum. Uliana took 2nd place and won a special prize at the 19th F. Kuhlau International Competition (Ulzen, Germany) in 2021, presenting her author’s project “Which Dreamed it?” at the final round, based on three compositions from the second half of the 20th century for flute solo. Ulyana is also a participant in the 71st international ARD competition and the 1st prize winner of the F. W. Nies competition in Wiesbaden, dedicated to the music of the “beautiful era”. Uliana has taken part in master classes with such outstanding musicians as James Galway, Ian Clarke, Felix Renggli, William Bennett, Benedek Chalog, Sarah Louvion, Wally Haze, Andrea Lieberknecht, Carlo Jans. She is also a participant of the III All-Russian Seminars for New Music at the Moscow Conservatory. Tchaikovsky. Now her repertoire includes music from the Baroque era (including on an old instrument) to the latest works by Fernyhow, Yurel, Yun, Halfter, Furrer, Sharrino. She played a number of world premieres: for example, the sonatas of the Australian composer Larry Sitsky, the Russian composer Ivan Sokolov, who dedicated his work to Ulyana. She also enjoys playing the piano, harpsichord, recorder, Irish whistle and historical dancing. At the art history exam, Ulyana successfully performed in the Visible Music project as a director, vocalist and graphic designer, performing Stravinsky's Jokes for voice and chamber ensemble. Uliana is constantly involved in the cultural life of Moscow and is interested in everything that can be useful for a deep interpretation and analysis of musical works.
